As a retired Public Library System Director, books are my life. As the system's cataloger, they were in my blood.
They say the best way to be a writer is to be a reader, and I have more than done that!
I have always been creative, most of that coming out in the form of arts and crafts - knitting, crochet, beading, gourd art, pine needle basketry, and anything else I felt like trying my hands at. (If you're interested in what I do there, check out my Etsy shop: rtrbysusan.etsy.com) But as I did all these crafts, I always had stories running around in my head, usually starring a favorite actor or two. It was entertaining, another form of creativity, and helped to pass the time away at boring meetings.
Everyone has a certain age milestone that they see looming in their life. And as I approached one, I decided that if I didn't get my act together, I was never going to get a book published. So I wrote down my most complete and compelling story and bit the bullet, got the money together, and self-published my first book.
I am working on trying to sell enough of this first book - which is really only about one third of the entire story, though it stands alone quite well - so I can get the rest of it published. My character - Grady Pearson - needs to have his story told. I am also working on a series about a female murder mystery writer and an award winning investigative reporter, and how their lives come together. And there's a fantasy novel kicking around as well. It seems once the dam broke, I can't stop writing!
At any rate, I hope you enjoy my author web page. I'll try not to be too boring!
